Caramelized Onion, Sweet Potato, Bacon Quiche

Quiche 1

I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with Sweet Potatoes. And I honestly have no idea where this deep-seated love for sweet potatoes comes from or how to explain it. Especially since I used to hate them.

Quiche 2

Every Thanksgiving I’ve ever attended has had some form of sweet potato casserole and until recently I used to avoid this dish. Now it’s one of my favorite things to eat during Thanksgiving. But wait a minute, Thanksgiving is over and I’m still obsessed and not satiated. I need more sweet potatoes!

Hazelnut Tartlets with Crème Patisserie, Caramelized Bananas, and Chocolate Ganache

Banana Tartlet 1

I’m at that point of the year where I know I need to start eating healthy and working out. That whole summer body, look good in a bikini thing. And I’ve given my diet and workout regimen some serious thought. I’ve even gone on a sporadic run or two. Suffice to say; I’m off to a slow start.

Profiteroles with Lavender Cream

We all have that fun, show stopping dessert that not only impresses, but is also extremely easy to make. For me, that dessert is profiteroles. Don’t let these seemingly daunting puffs fool you. These delectable bites are easy to make and still leave a lasting impression.

Marigold Macarons with Vanilla Lemon Buttercream

Marigold Macaron 1

What’s the common thread between macarons, human biology, and tax forms? I have no idea how to make, practice, or fill out any of the aforementioned items. It’s about time that I tried to get at least one of these things accomplished before I die. I took a human biology class once, did not go well, and I have turbo tax to do all the heavy lifting when taxes are due. That left me with only one feasible option. Macarons.Marigold Macaron 3

Macarons are one of my all time favorite desserts. I remember the first time I had macarons was at the LAX airport. I was slightly champagne drunk (honestly the only way to fly) during a layover and needed a bite to eat. I went to La Provence Patisserie and bought a dozen macarons. The experience was life changing. I bought another dozen from a small bakery in San Francisco the next day. The sugar high was real. The come down was all too real, miserable to be honest.
